50 States in 50* Days - Connecticut Athlete Agent Regulation

Connecticut is the latest stop in the 50 States in 50* Days series. I’ve got some catching up to do so hopefully I’ll be able to crank out some of these on a more regular basis.

Connecticut is another Uniform Athlete Agent Act state. Connecticut’s athlete agent laws were enacted in 2005. The Department of Consumer Protection handles registration and processes the license application. Corporations and business must register and provide a listing of each person acting as a athlete agent. In addition, each individual agent must also submit a registration form.

Registration is $200 and is good for two years. No discounts given for registration based on being registered in another state.

You can also download a roster of registered agents from the State Department of Consumer Protection. Under “Boards” select “Occupational Trades Licenses”, then under “Profession/Institution” enter “Student Athlete Agent”. According to my search there are 13 agents currently registered, mostly consisting of basketball agents.

Coming up next: Delaware.
